Known as the 'Chhoti Kashi' (Little Varanasi), Mandi is home to eighty-one ancient stone temples situated on the banks of the Beas River.
To reach Mandi without the tourist fatigue, take the early morning local HRTC bus or a shared taxi. Avoid the main square hubs and head to the outskirts where the traditional architecture still breathes.
